Kia entered the Iranian car market in 1993 in partnership with Saipa of Iran. Between 1993 and 2004, the company assembled and sold a total of 739,875 Kia Pride vehicles, giving the popular model a 32% share of the market and cementing itself as the number one selling passenger car in Iran.[1]
In 2010, SAIPA produced more than 635,000 vehicles in Iran, including the Kia Rio. SAIPA’s car factory in Kashan was inaugurated in 2008 and is now the largest plant in the Middle East.[2]

In Fiscal Year 2011, Kia held 12 contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense valued at more than $1.3 million.[3]
